Last Sunday, the cast of Every Family’s Got One came together for our first Writers Workshop.
After introductions, hugs, and food (a big part of any workshop experience as far as I’m concerned), we settled into a table read. A table read if you didn’t know is just that – sitting around the table, paper in hand, reading our stories.
Here are 3 things that made my heart soar:
1. Even in this most casual of settings, the stories came to life.
There is an emotional story arc to the show; it’s exciting to know our audience is in for a most entertaining evening.
2. It feels like a gift to be working with this talented bunch.
The cast is made up of creative, warm, supportive people. Each storyteller offering up a pointed insight or helpful suggestion to make another cast member’s story that much better.
3. Our October 16thperformance is going to be fabulous.
These storytellers, their stories, should not be missed.

Lance Werth, Lisa Leshaw, Tara Visconti, Tony Mennuto, Aliaa Dawoud, Molly England, Ellie Devers. Missing from photo: Linda Kuriloff and Adam Selbst. (Oh yeah, me too. I’m behind the camera.)
I can’t wait for our next workshop, and, of course, our show.
